Scope +

The Rennie Collection consists of loose photographs, two panoramic photographs of California Spanish American War Veterans Association Annual meetings, and the Santa Cruz High School Cardinals for 1947-1949.  Allan Rennie was a veteran of the Spanish American War.  He served in the California Naval Militia on one of the ships patrolling off the coast of California.  He was a Coxswain in the Fourth Division.  A coxswain was usually a more senior naval enlisted member who was responsible for the navigation and steering of a boat.  Mr. Rennie also served in the California Spanish American War Veterans Association.  In 1940 he was the Quarter Master for the Santa Cruz Camp Number 92, at that time there were apparently 80 Spanish American War veterans in the local area.  The photographs reflect the interest and activities of Allan Rennie.
