This collection consists primarily of materials related to and collected by Paul Dombey Johnston (1889-1991). He was born in Vancouver, Washington. This collection contains materials of one of his passions – photography. He not only recorded family history and events but also local history of Aptos, Capitola, Santa Cruz, and Soquel. Also, as a member of the local historical society he collected newspaper clippings, magazines and ephemera related to local history. The collection primarily reflects Paul Johnston’s interests, livelihoods, military service and education.
