Judy Steen originally prepared a list of notable women of Santa Cruz County for a 1995 Researchers
Anonymous meeting. The first list was limited to women born in the nineteenth century. Over the years, she
revised the list several times, adding many more names and expanding it to include women born after 1900,
though no living women are included. Date of arrival in Santa Cruz County is noted for many of the women
(Arr. SCC=Arrived Santa Cruz County). Maiden name appears in parentheses, followed by married name
in parentheses. This is still a work in progress. Her research files continue to grow, as more information on
