This collection consists of six (6) approx. 12”x9” silk screen prints by artist Louise S. Lovett. These prints are primarily of covered bridges in Felton, Glen Canyon and Paradise Park. The prints are on folded, thick, beige paper and are in good condition. Also in this collection are three (3) prints by Hulda Hoover McLean, a Santa Cruz artist and former S.C. County Supervisor. These three prints are in good condition except for some staining around the edges. More of Hulda Hoover’s McLean’s are included in the The Hulda Hoover McLean Sketches Collection which can be found in the MAH Archives with an accompanying Collection Guide available for viewing on the Santa Cruz MAH website. These prints were donated by Margaret Koch in 1996 to the Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History. In addition to the prints, this collection family and other photographs Margaret Koch collected. There are also the research notes Margaret collected on a wide range of subjects related to Santa Cruz County history.Another item in this collection includes an 11×15” scrapbook belonging to Estella G. Shearer. This scrapbook includes poems and newspaper clippings dating from the 1920’s-1940’s primarily of Adist G. Boylan’s San Lorenzo Journal column “Nature Study” which contained information on flora and fauna such as the migration of monarch butterflies, wildflower’s, and sea otters. Adist Boylan also wrote poems under the pen name “Hill Billy” which are included in this scrapbook and were published in 1930 in the Santa Cruz County Herald. Adist Boylan was a relative of Estella G. Shearer, owner of this scrapbook.
